What maintenance does my lawn mower need?
4-stroke machines like lawn mowers need to have an oil change at least annually for light use. Our tune-up includes an oil change, blade sharpening, spark plug, and air filter.
We use engineered high-octane fuel without ethanol in all repairs. We use OEM parts as much as possible, but have found that non-OEM parts can save customers money. NOTE: PLEASE EMPTY THE FUEL TANK BEFORE TRANSPORTING YOUR MACHINE. Call and talk to one of our trained staff if you have questions on how to remove the fuel.
If it has been sitting dormant during the winter, it’s common for a lawn mower to fail to start if gas was left in it. Fuel can spoil causing it to thicken causing gunk in the carburetor. This happens to both lawn mowers that are 4-stroke and 2-cycle machines like chainsaws and blowers. In most cases we can clean the carburetor and rebuild it. Sometimes it is more economical and practical to buy a new carburetor.

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, one hour of gas mowing creates the same ozone precursor pollution as 11 hours of driving an average car. AQMD is accepting applications for the Clean Lawnmower incentive program which will provide up to a $200 incentive for the replacement (and destruction) of a gasoline or diesel-powered lawnmower and purchase of a new cordless electric lawnmower. Churchill’s stocks the ECHO 58V rechargeable cordless electric mower.

Bring Us Your Mower
Bring your mower to Churchill’s Hardware along with your approved form. We will drain the oil and dispose of your mower for $35. Application MUST be approved by AQMD before you dispose of old mower, and you must dispose of old mower within 30 days of purchase of a new, cordless, zero-emission lawn mower.
